2008: Genesis in the Cage???? Where are you?
It all looks a bit quiet from the outside, but Genesis in the Cage is hard at work bedding in new performers and learning new material. Since we've been booked for a big Russian tour, one of our 'new' pieces contains mentions 'Russian Hills'. UK gigs will happen in 2008, stay tuned!

What is this - the Henry Dagg Website? Hen storms Japan
They love him out there! Henry has recently returned from yet another international saw playing convention, this time in Japan. He organised an entire orchestra of saw players in a performance of one of his own compositions. Genesis must seem very tame in comparison!

Henry now works for Streetly Electronics
Streetly have been making Mellotron keyboards samplers for the last 40 years, and we're the only touring Genesis Trib band who always use one. Henry has designed and builds components for the new M4000 version of the Mellotron and was featured in a couple of magazine articles.

Matha Hippie Festival
We just returned from a very hot France where we performed at a French Hippie Festival. At the point when we stepped on stage there were over 2,000 people out there. At 3am, when we stopped, many of that number were spaced out in little huddles far from the stage though there was a great vibe throughout and we’re very grateful to the organisers for inviting us to such a great event. Low point was during Supper’s Ready, just after ‘And its..’, when the spectacular climax was thwarted by a power-out: very Rock'n'Roll. Too many high points to mention. Far out man!

Good luck Nick!

GOING DUTCH!
We are delighted to announce that we will be headlining at the forthcoming first Dutch Genesis Convention in Zoetermeer on 11 December 2005. For further details see the website.
We are overjoyed to be asked to perform at this event. We've played on the continent before and the reception was just fantastic. There is a great progressive rock following in The Netherlands so we know it will be a great show.

With great regret the band has to announce the loss of one of its founding members. Mark Jordan has been the solid driving force behind the band's live performances and will be sadly missed. We wish him all the best with his new promotion at work. Mark's parting words to all his fans follow. Anyone who feels they may be able to fill his shoes please get in touch through the website.
Hi All,
Due to to work commitments I have had to take a back seat with the band. Because of my ongoing training I do not know what I will be doing on the dates gigs are booked. In order to allow the band to grow and continue it is best that I step aside so that everyone knows where they stand. I would like to say thanks for all the kind support over the last five years or so, I have enjoyed myself immensely in that time. A special thanks to Pat and Trevor, soul mates never die so to speak and we three have been in the band since its beginning. Also thanks to Maurice and Henry for allowing us to carry on evolving. I am sure to see you again in the future as hopefully there will be opportunities to do something a little special at some select gigs.
Thanks again
Mark

How long does it take to arrange a gig?
Friday 11:30 Tomorrow's venue tells us they have gone bust and gig is cancelled. 12:15 We ring BBC local radio and explain situation. 14:15 Trevor interviewed live (and sings a bit), asks for potential venues to contact us. 17:00 Alec Morris, superstar Hereford local finds us venue. 19:00 We start gig in Margate. 23:00 After Margate gig we negotiate with replacement venue.
Saturday Alec helps to find us accommodation (which we'd cancelled!) Alec puts up posters to re-direct punters from the original venue. Alec runs the lights for the show.
Thank you Alec. You are now in the band!

Promoter / Tour Manager required , interested !! email Trevor AUTUMN TOUR LOOMS Our Autumn gig list is now confirmed. Dates and venues are listed on the "live" page. We may add one or two more later. Hope to see you all there. If you can help with local promotion (flyering relevant gigs, putting up posters), do please contact us and we'll handsomely reward you with free tickets.
What else is new? Well.... we have acquired yet more moving lights. Yippee - more work for the crew. There are whisperings of big international activities in Spring next year - we have been invited to a major progressive rock festival next March. Negotiations are still under way so we can't say too much yet, though if you're thinking of coming don't forget your Sombrero!
SPRING TOUR OVER Many thanks to the many dedicated fans who turned up to our Spring shows. Highlights included our extended 'Lamb Stew', and the sad incident of the sock which was NOT placed in a ventilation tube causing our splendid smoke effects to set off the fire alarm, talk about Burning Rope!
Many were impressed by our new keyboard player's rig, complete with its fairy light illuminations. After several gigs, Henry was to be seen with the back off his Mellotron showing punters his old, yet fully functional, equipment. Our new bass-player Maurice is settling in too, though he hasn't managed to sell any duplicates of his doubleneck yet (he makes these for a living).

We would like to invite you to our final dress rehearsal before we embark on our next gigs with our new guys. For the first time we will be playing: Ripples, Timetable and Anyway (as part of a newly arranged lamb stew), plus one or two others that we have not performed before. We will also be trying our new lighting rig for the first time. The show will start at 5pm on Sunday 4th of April at 'The Hall', Smarden (nr Maidstone), Kent. For details call 07771 896372. There is no entry charge but a donation for charity would be welcomed

It is with sadness that we announce that Mark Rae and Shaun Hunt have left the band. Mark wants to concentrate on his new original band project, and we thank him for his time and generosity with us over the last year and a half. Mark's replacement is Henry Dagg, a composer and inventor of innovative musical instruments and sound sculptures and of course a massive Genesis Fan. Shaun found the travelling too hard an obstacle to climb over as well as work commitments, and we thank Shaun for his hard work in the time that he spent with us. Shaun's replacement is Maurice Hendricks, a builder of guitars and come April 04 you will see both Henry and Maurice on our Spring tour, including the amazing new doubleneck that he has built......

The Spring tour is now over - a massive thank you to everyone who came to see us in England, Scotland and Belgium. A couple of months off now to recharge the batteries, then it's back out on the road for the Autumn tour.

After some hard-core auditioning, we're delighted to announce that we have a new bass player, and his name is Shaun Hunt. It was a very close-run thing, and came down to an extremely difficult choice between two superb musicians. Shaun played an excellent audition, and we were extremely impressed not only with his musicianship but also his obvious feel for, and love of, the music. [His cream Shergold double-neck and Moog Taurus bass pedals might have also had something to do with it - Ed]. Richard will be a hard act to follow, but we have no doubt that Shaun is more than up to it.

Plans are underway to release our first live CD taken from our recent gig at The Theatre Royal, Margate. Although not 100% set in stone yet, it's likely to be called 'Two Sides Live' and contain over 60 minutes of music from the Gabriel era and early Collins era (hence the title, geddit?). The track list will almost certainly be: Eleventh Earl of Mar, The Fountain of Salmacis, A Trick of the Tail, Carpet Crawl, Follow You Follow Me, Supper's Ready and Duke's Travels / Duke's End. We will also be releasing a video taken from the same gig with some extra songs, including the whole of the Duke Suite. Watch this space for further details.

The Spring tour is now over - 12 dates over seven weeks. We've already started booking the Autumn tour, and are even pencilling stuff in for next Spring - scary! Thanks to everyone who came to see us, and for all the positive feedback. A massive thank you as well to our fabulous crew Andrew, Chantel and Julian, to Melbourne for supporting us at West One Four, and to Andy Thompson for roadie duties par excellence.

After nearly three years of solid bass work, Richard has announced his intention to leave the band, in true Peter Gabriel style, to spend more time with his family. So, we're on the lookout for a replacement. Enthusiasm and commitment to do between 25 and 50 gigs a year are essential, as are good equipment and own transport.

The South-West leg of the Spring tour goes extremely well. Taunton was a lovely venue out in the wilds of Somerset - we were amazed so many people turned up! Bristol was top - great venue, great crowd. Bournemouth was described by a long-standing Genesis tribute concert attendee (Hi Graham!) as one of the best In The Cage gigs he's ever seen.

The Spring tour is finalised. It will see us play 12 dates from February to April and will take us all over the country culminating in a return to the West One Four in London, this time supported by Melbourne. We can't wait! After the tour, we'll probably take a bit of time off to learn a couple of "new" songs, but we'll be back on the road again in the Autumn.

After a couple of months to allow new boy Mark R to get up to speed with the current repertoire, we've added a new song to the set. Without giving too much away, it involves a cloak, some white gloves and a pair of batwings! Plans are already afoot for the next number - suffice it to say, that Trev will be wearing a stocking over his head for that one! After that, who knows? Probably something from the early Collins era.
