Dana White pessimistic about Nick Diaz’s comeback – ‘Fighting is a young man’s game’

Longtime UFC welterweight contender Nick Diaz teased a possible return to combat sports after he crushed UFC 261 pay-per-view (PPV) event last month in Jacksonville, Fla. , even taking time to chat with Class President Dana White.

Consider this bad news for “chattering bitches”.

While Diaz appears to be physically ready for another run inside the cage, White is still not convinced that the former Strikeforce champion is mentally engaged in the rigors of full-time competition, which to this day stay a cut above working at Walmart.

“Everything went well,” White told ESPN of his meeting with Diaz. “My whole thing with Nick Diaz is I wonder how much he really wants to fight. We got together, we had a nice conversation, talked about a possible return for him. I just don’t know. We’ll see how it goes this summer and the rest of this year … I think they’ll come back and say, ‘We want to fight this guy. So we’ll see who they say they want and we’ll go from there.

In order for Diaz, 37, to convince White and Co. that he is serious about returning to the UFC, he will first need to complete six months of drug testing at USADA and then overcome the bargaining bump that almost sent him to the Bellator MMA in his last round of conversations.

“I sit every day or I talk every day [with] hungry, young savages who want to get into the Top 10, become world champions, all that, ”White continued. “Nick Diaz has done everything, seen everything, he participated in big fights, I don’t see that in him when I talk to him. Fighting is a young man’s game and I’m looking for the youngest, most talented and most promising fighters who want to be world champions one day, who want to be the best.

It should be noted that UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz is older than Diaz and appears to be competing in his athletic heyday, so there is still hope that the Stockton slugger – who doesn’t. hasn’t seen any action since his Anderson Silva laugh at UFC 183 – can make one last run inside the Octagon.
