MMA: Jeremy Pacatiw wants to leave a lasting impression in ONE debut
A new chapter opens for Team Lakay as Jeremy “The Juggernaut” Pacatiw makes his highly anticipated promotional debut in ONE: Battleground on July 30.
The 25-year-old arrives with promises, as evidenced by his previous performances which have made him one of the most anticipated young talents to join the ONE roster.
Pacatiw assured that the upcoming ONE Championship version is a more polished fighter than the one the public last saw.
“I will say now that they will see a different breed of Jeremy Pacatiw, a much better version of me,” he said.
Make no mistake, Pacatiw is thrilled with this new chapter in his career as he takes on all comers.
“I’m very, very excited for my debut. I won’t go into the details of our preparation but I think we’ve got everything in place for this fight,” he said.
Pacatiw, who is entering the ONE Circle for the first time with Chinese foe Chen Rui, is motivated to leave a lasting impression and prove that, like his team mates, he belongs.
Prior to his first fight for promotion, he gained valuable insight from senior team Lakay, such as reigning ONE strawweight champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio and two-time ONE lightweight champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang.
“They only gave me positive reminders before my debut. They also told me that I had to keep in mind that being my debut now is the time for me to shine and remember my name, “he said.
It’s a golden opportunity for Pacatiw to step forward and show that the next generation of Team Lakay is ready to grab the limelight, joining the next wave of Igorot fighters led by Pacio, Danny “The King” Kingad, Lito “Thunder Kid “Adiwang, and ONE newcomers Stephen” The Sniper “Loman, Jenelyn Olsim and Jhanlo Mark Sangiao.
Realizing the tradition that Team Lakay has in promoting, Pacatiw wants to deliver a memorable fight in his debut with ONE.
“I stay focused. I don’t really feel pressured because that’s what they reminded me of. The most important thing on my mind right now is to win, and that’s it,” he said. he declared.
Of all the manong on Team Lakay, Pacatiw cherishes the advice he received from Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon the most.
Belingon had been at the top of the same bantamweight division, formerly holding the ONE title by overtaking Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes with a split decision victory in November 2018.
“Manong Kevin told me that I have to give my all in the fight. He also reminded me to stay focused on the game all the time and not to get distracted by everything that is going on outside the cage.” , did he declare.
Pacatiw, however, leaves no stone unturned as he and coach Mark Sangiao crafted a powerful game plan against Chen.
“I watched his fights and saw my advantages as well as my disadvantages against him,” Pacatiw said.
“In MMA anything can happen. It can be a knockout, submission or decision so we really don’t know what can happen. But I’m sure the result of all my hard work will show on July 30th.
“This game is so huge for me that I have to win it. Everything else will follow.”
