Veteran Ben Rothwell welcomes newcomer Askar Mozharov to UFC

15-fight UFC veteran Ben Rothwell will try to stop new promotional pilot Askar Mozharov in his tracks.

According to Russian MMA journalist Igor Lazorin, Ben Rothwell will be looking to return to the winning column against Askar Mozharov, who will be looking to make a statement on his UFC debut.

The original fight was initially Ben Rothwell facing off against Philipe Lins. They were to fight in May. 8th for the UFC Vegas 26 event last Saturday. Lins had to withdraw from the fight because he had fallen ill the day before the fight.

This fight was postponed between the two on May 22 for UFC Vegas 27. The fight was once again abandoned on Lins’ side. Now Rothwell will fight promotion newcomer Askar Mozharov at this event.

Ukraine Mozharov was recently supposed to fight in the PFL in the lightweight tournament. He was replacing Vinny Magalhaes. Sadly, Young had to lose another partner as Mozharov stepped down for undisclosed reasons.

Mozharov enters the UFC with a professional record of 23-7. He completed all but three of his wins and he finished everything in the first round. Originally from Ukraine, Mozharov now lives in Miami, Florida, training with MMA Masters.

“Big” Ben Rothwell has fought for the UFC for nearly a decade, until 2009, when he made his UFC debut against Cain Velasquez. Throughout his UFC career, he’s fought five times in a co-main event, once in the main event, and has never fought outside of the main card.

Rothwell was last seen in October last year against Pole Marcin Tybura. Tybura emerged victorious after a 29-27 unanimous decision victory.

Do you think Ben Rothwell is going to spoil UFC newcomer Askar Mozharov’s debut on May 22?
